PEO International Peace Scholarships for Women

Every year, a woman peacebuilder who has significantly aided in conflict resolution, violence reduction, and peacebuilding is honored with the Women Building Peace Award. therefore students now gain awards as PEO International Peace Scholarships for Women.

The International Peace Scholarship Fund is a program that offers scholarships to deserving women from other nations so they can pursue graduate degrees in the US and Canada. It was founded in 1949.

Scholarship amount and length

The scholarships are offered as GRANTS-IN-AID and are not meant to pay for all living or educational costs. Based on need, the maximum award for one (1) year of study is $12,500. Depending on each person's need, smaller sums may be given.

A scholarship winner enrolled in graduate school is qualified to apply for one (1) scholarship renewal. She is only eligible for scholarship support for a total of two (2) years.


Eligibility

• The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund offers financial aid to women from outside the United States and Canada who are pursuing advanced degrees from an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada, with the hope that recipients will use their education upon returning home to make a positive impact and promote world peace.

• A candidate must have a full year of coursework left to complete, be enrolled, and dwell in the same residence for the duration of the academic year in order to be eligible for her first scholarship.

• First-time applicants cannot be doctoral students who have finished their coursework and are simply focusing on their dissertations.

• Scholarship applications from foreign students enrolled at Cottey College are welcome.

• Citizens of the United States or Canada, as well as Canadian permanent residents, are ineligible. For tax reasons only, a student may be a resident.
