Erasmus Mundus Scholarships
Students interested in the International Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD) program beginning in Academic Year 2022–2023 may apply for VLIR–UOS or Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
Additionally, Ghent University provides Top-up Grants to chosen applicants from the nations on the OESO-DAC list.
Three European students and twelve non-European students, who make up the top 15 applicants each year, are chosen to receive Erasmus Mundus scholarships.
The Management Board may choose to give applicants from particular regions more scholarships in addition to these 15 already mentioned ones.
The IMRD is taught in English at a Flemish university or university college. VLIR-UOS scholarships are given to applicants from qualified countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America with a focus on developing and transitional regions.
The Ghent University Top-up Grants are awarded to outstanding IMRD candidates.

Value and components of the scholarship
• Erasmus Mundus: The scholarships include a contribution to the students' participation costs (including tuition fees, library and laboratory costs, full insurance coverage, and any other mandatory costs related to the students' participation in the Master); a contribution to the students' travel and installation costs; and a monthly stipend for the duration of the study program.
The perks of the scholarships differ depending on the country, partner, and program.
• VLIR-UOS: This complete scholarship includes the cost of education, travel, and a €1150 monthly stipend.
Ghent University Top-up Grants: This is not really a complete scholarship. Students are given a base salary of €654 and a tuition fee that is partly waived.
Eligibility:
Students who are not nationals of an EU countries, Iceland, Norway, Lichtenstein, Turkey, or the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia are eligible to apply for Partner Country Scholarships through Erasmus Mundus (FYROM).
Furthermore, they are neither permitted to be citizens of these nations nor may they have spent more than a combined 12 months performing their primary activity—studying, training, or employment—in any of these nations over the previous five years.
All other students who don't meet the requirements for partner country scholarships are eligible to apply for programme country scholarships (this includes all nationals of the European Union, Iceland, Norway, Lichtenstein, Turkey and FYROM, as well as, people who have spent more than a total of 12 months in the EU over the last 5 years).
Students from one of the 31 eligible nations in Africa, Asia, or Latin America who are residents of that nation are eligible to apply for the VLIR-UOS program (see the Official Website for list of countries).
Top candidates for the IMRD who are citizens and permanent residents of nations on the OESO-DAC list are eligible for Ghent University Top-up Grants.

Before February 28, 2023, and before March 1, 2023, applicants for scholarships must submit their online IMRD applications and any required supporting documentation. While filling out the online form for the IMRD course, users must specify that they intend to apply for a scholarship.
