Brief explanation
The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is available to both men and women from developing nations who are submitting applications to master's degree programs.
Applicants must be applying in development-related fields and have relevant professional experience as well as a history of supporting their nations' development efforts.
Academic Programs/Host Institutions:
Scholarships are available through JJWBGSP for participating programs at institutions in the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan.
Goal group:
Developing country nationals of World Bank Member Countries
Value, components, and length of scholarship:
Tuition, a monthly living allowance, round-trip transportation, health insurance, and a travel allowance are all included in a JJWBGSP scholarship.
Please be aware that all JJ/WBGSP scholarships are for the lesser of the graduate program's duration or two years.
Eligibility
The candidate must satisfy these requirements in order to be eligible:
- Be a national of one of the nations on this list that is a World Bank member;
- Being denied dual citizenship with any industrialized nation;
- Have excellent health; should be in good health.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) that was earned at least three years before the application deadline;
- Possess a Bachelor's (or equivalent) degree and at least three years of recent work experience in development;
- Be working full-time, for pay, in development-related employment at the time you apply for the scholarship.
- Possess at least three years of paid experience in the development field following the completion of a Bachelor's degree (or a degree from a comparable university) that was earned no more than six years prior to the application deadline.
- Admission to at least one of the JJ/WBGSP participating master's programs outside of the applicant's country of citizenship and country of residence listed when the call for scholarship applications opens, unconditionally (aside from funding), on or before the Scholarship Application Deadline date.
- Before submitting your application, the letter of admission must be uploaded.
You cannot be a close relative of any staff of World Bank Group.
The term "close relative" is defined as: Mother, Father, Sister, Half-Sister, Brother, Half-Brother, Son, Daughter, Aunt, Uncle, Niece, or Nephew.
You also cannot be an Executive Director, his/her alternate, or staff of any type of appointment of the World Bank Group.
Guidelines for Application:
Applications aren't being accepted right now.
You must first submit an application for admission to at least one of the Participating Programs and get unconditional admission before being qualified to receive a JJ/WBGSP scholarship.
THE UNCONDITIONAL LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE FROM A PARTICIPATING MASTER'S PROGRAM MUST BE UPLOADED INTO YOUR APPLICATION.
Once the scholarship is open for applications, they are submitted online.
Depending on the program taking part, there are two application windows:
• Window 1 of the application
At 12:00 p.m. Washington time, from January 17 through February 28, 2022
Window #1 is open for applications to JJWBGSP Participating Programs.
• Window 2 for Applications
Washington time at noon from March 29 to May 27, 2022
Applications are being accepted under Window #2 for JJWBGSP Participating Programs.
