Overview

Berea College does not charge tuition. All accepted students are given the 100% tuition reimbursement known as the No-Tuition Promise. The first year of attendance at all enrolled overseas students at Berea College is fully funded, making it the first institution in the United States to do so. Tuition, lodging, board, and other fees are covered through a mix of financial aid and scholarships.

For the first year of enrollment, Berea College offers full funding to all enrolled international students. 

International students are expected to save $1,000 per year for their costs in the following years. International students are given summer jobs by the college so that they can fulfill this requirement.

In order to confirm their admission, accepted international students must pay a US$2,200 deposit and a US$50 entrance fee. For specific costs incurred throughout the course of their four years of study, overseas students may use this deposit. 

Additional financial aid is offered to students who are unable to pay the full or part of the deposit.

Through the College's Work Program, each international student is given a job that pays during the academic year on campus. In order to pay for personal expenses, students may use their pay, which amounts to around US$2,000 in the first year.

Eligibility

Students who are highly academically capable and in need of financial aid are required to apply to Berea College. 

The majority of Berea College students get between 20 and 30 on the ACT (or SAT equivalent) and have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.0 in a rigorous college prep program. 

The SAT or ACT are available for students to take.

Additionally, we will take into account other elements like levels of motivation, leadership skills, and community involvement. 

The high school curriculum listed below is highly advised by the college:

• 2 Laboratory Science units; 

• 4 English units (writing, rhetoric, and literature); 

• 3 Mathematics units (at least Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry); 

• 2 Social Science/History units; (including World History)

• 2 credits in a foreign language.
