In terms of global development, the University of Sheffield is very dedicated. Strategy plan includes the idea of "celebrating, promoting, and growing the amount of the work that is performed to enhance people's lives through various international partnerships (Allan & Nesta Ferguson Scholarships University of Sheffield), both locally and overseas."

Building on this passion and commitment, the University is now able to provide scholarship opportunities for international students from developing economies for a number of courses that are associated with the Sheffield Institute for International Development, thanks to a partnership with the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust and the Sheffield Institute.

The University of Sheffield, in collaboration with the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust and the Sheffield Institute for International Development, offers scholarships to international students from developing countries each year for a variety of courses affiliated with the Sheffield Institute for International Development.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

Each scholarship offers a a full tuition fee waiver and a maintenance stipend.


Eligibility

  • To study at the University of Sheffield in the 2023/24 academic year, you must hold an offer for one of the approved degrees (see above) before 5 May 2023.
  • For tuition fee purposes, you must be categorized as an international student.
  • To be eligible for this award, you must be self-funded, which means you are not supported by a research council, government, commercial industry, charity, or any other comparable organization.
  • This scholarship cannot be combined with any other funding grants from the University of Sheffield or from external sources.
  • Your method of attendance must be full-time.
  • You must begin your studies at the University of Sheffield in 2023. This scholarship cannot be postponed.
  • The scholarship will be awarded if you successfully complete any condition(s) related to your offer before the deadline set by the Admissions Service.
  • The scholarship is contingent on acquiring a visa to study at the University in September 2023.
  • You must be a national of, or permanently residing in, one of the nations or territories listed (listed above).


Application Instruction

If you receive an offer to study one of the eligible courses and are a national or permanent resident of one of the relevant countries or territories, you will be immediately evaluated for the scholarship. 

The application deadline is May 5, 2023. If you are chosen for the next round, you will be contacted by Thursday, May 18, 2023, to be invited to apply. Those who have been contacted must submit an application by 1pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
