York World Scholars Programme

A fully financed undergraduate fellowship for international students is available through York University in 2023–2024. York World Scholars Programme, The recipients of this award receive $35,000 year to help with their undergraduate studies in Canada. Consequently, this prize is worth a total of $140,000.

Applicants accepted to a direct admission undergraduate program from a domestic high school are eligible for our entrance scholarships. When you achieve the needed minimum GPA again, you can regain this admission scholarship, which is automatically awarded, renewable at each year level, and renewable.

For overseas students studying at York University right now, there are scholarships and bursaries available. It is advised that you look at the funding options for overseas students and submit applications for all of the programs for which you are eligible.

Brief explanation

International students are encouraged to apply to the York World Scholars (YWS) program at York University, which is renowned for promoting innovative thinking. 

The program is designed for high-achieving students who desire to pursue a double major (a combination of two programs that results in a unique degree) in the humanities, social sciences, languages, or professional subjects and who have excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Value and length of the award

A maximum $20,000 tuition waiver will be given to the top three World Scholars. Scholarships up to $2500 are available to students with a grade point average of 80% or higher. 

The rewards are tenable for up to three years, subject to satisfactory development.

When you apply as a York World Scholar, you will also be immediately considered for the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies International Student Entrance Scholarship. 

Candidates who meet the requirements and have a grade point average (GPA) of 90% to 94.9% will get $2,000; those who meet the requirements and have a GPA of 95% or higher will receive $3,000.

Application guidelines

Applications are currently not being accepted.

If they want to apply to other Ontario Universities, international applicants can do so through the Ontario Universities Application Center (OUAC), OR they can use the York online application (if they are interested in applying to York only). 

Two statements of interest must be submitted following the OUAC application:

(a). A 400-word essay in which you explain your decision to pursue two different majors and the reasons behind it.

(b). A 200-word statement outlining who you hope to be in five years.

The OUAC application as well as all statements must be submitted by April 20, 2023.
