Fellows are assigned to a university in the USA that is a participant. The university that a fellow will attend cannot be chosen. 

Instead, according to their professional field and area of interest, they are divided into diverse groups of 7–15 and assigned to the most suitable host institution.

Individuals from Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, Eurasia, the Middle East, North Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, South and Central Asia, and the Western Hemisphere who are eligible.

Value and components of the scholarship:

The Fellowship offers:

• The payment of tuition and fees at the designated host university; 
• Pre-academic English language instruction, if necessary; 
• A maintenance (living) allowance, including a one-time settling-in allowance;
• Insurance against accidents and illnesses; a stipend for books; a one-time computer subsidy;
• Airfare (both domestically and internationally for the program's domestic travel to necessary program events and foreign travel to and from the U.S.);

Eligibility:

The candidate should possess:

• A first-year university degree; 
• A minimum of five years of full-time, professional experience
• Limited or no prior experience in the United States, shown leadership abilities, 
• A history of community service, and English language proficiency

Country-specific application dates range from May to September each year. You will be informed of the internal application deadline by the U.S. Embassy or Binational Fulbright Commission that is making the nomination. 

By October 1st, Embassies and Commissions must send their nominations to the Washington, DC, office of the Institute of International Education.
